I love baseball. I love the pomp of opening day and the sounds of the crowd. And I love listening to the song that a player has chosen as his walk up song. In the 1989 movie “Major League,” Ricky Vaughn walked onto the field to “Wild Thing.” Braves Chipper Jones walked in to “Crazy Train.” Yankees closer Mariano Rivera walked out of the bullpen to “Enter Sandman.” Closer Trevor Hoffman chose “Hells Bells” for his song. David “Big Papi” Ortiz walked out to Notorious B.I.G.’s “Big Poppa.” Mets ace Noah Syndergaard walked in to “Thunderstruck.” The right song does many things. It sets the stage and gets the players – and the crowd – excited for the next act.
A sound track sets the scene for the audience. I know you can hear this song in your head….
And this one is my all time favorite for test days.
