Why Groundhogs? Groundhog Day is February 2. Every year, a groundhog named Phil is pulled out of his hole in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. His official name is Punxsutawney Phil, Seer of Seers, Sage of Sages, Prognosticator of Prognosticators and Weather Prophet Extraordinary.
